I think we could all agree that as time goes on, the world seems to speed up, getting busier and more demanding. It can be easy to convince yourself that self-care shouldn't be as much of a priority with so many other things going on in our lives.
But self-care doesn't have to stress you out. Instead, practice everyday facial care using my tips and product recommendations as a Master Esthetician of over two decades. I'll show you how to give yourself a quick facial that keeps your skin looking younger—and you feeling fresher!
My foremost recommendation is to find yourself an effective machine that packs the power for a full facial in just ten minutes. What would I suggest? The perfect choice for a self-loving, quick skincare routine that utilizes the power of microcurrent: the Foreo Bear 2.
This little machine is handheld, meaning it's super packable for on-the-go facials, so you can give yourself a pick-me-up anytime during your day. The Foreo Bear 2 is Swedish-made and comes with a factory-set 3-minute treatment time and special T-Sonic™ vibration. That means it isn't only using microcurrent to give you a great facial. It is also using massage techniques that help with fascial relief, essential when talking about the treatment of the skin on your face.
A second option would be the Time Master Pro. Korean made and more powerful than ever, this cult favorite device has stood the test of time. Whichever device you choose, you can’t go wrong with either of these beauties
Having the right machine, even if it perfectly suits what you need in a tool, won't be effective without the right routine and other products to optimize your usage every time.
When you get ready for your quick on-the-go facial, you should exfoliate first. While this isn't required, it helps to magnify the results by clearing away any dead skin cells that could be inhibiting the current and your other products from getting into your skin's deeper layers.
I have a couple of recommendations for products you can use if you want to maximize their usefulness. One of these is the Multi-Purpose Enzyme Mask from CBE Botanicals. Not only does this mask rehydrate and give necessary minerals back into the skin, but it also doubles as a conductive gel when you use a micro-current machine like the Foreo Bear 2.
I understand that the whole goal here is a quick-and-easy facial, and taking time for an exfoliation routine might not fit into your hectic schedule! In these cases, you can also use a conductive mist that works to add hydration back into your skin while still maximizing the product's usefulness. I highly recommend the CBE Botanicals Mist + Conduct Hydrating Mineral Mist. It works to amplify your body's natural conductivity and boost natural proteins to help your skin maintain its overall elasticity. All of these facets work together to enhance your skin's natural repair process while being the ideal prep for a microcurrent treatment.
Have you heard of facial vectors? I love to talk about these paths on your face that follow the muscles under your skin. Their pull, predictably, affects the position of your facial features. As our muscles experience more wear and stretching, and the elasticity of our skin decreases, our facial features stop being able to 'bounce back' along these vector lines. When this happens, areas of the face might begin to wrinkle or sag.
This is why it is important to know your vectors. You can watch this video I made showing some of my preferred movements over these primary facial vector lines. For example, I recommend bringing your device along the top of your cheeks under your ears, from approximately your nose out to the sides of your face. This will help to tighten the skin in an area that can begin to show sagging early.
Go slowly while you work over each of the vectors. You can either use the full three minutes to work in vector lines around the face or reset the machine to a segment of 5 minutes and do each side of the face at a time—whatever you have time for without staying too long in any one area.
Microcurrent is best used in conjunction with a variety of other products, with a conductive product being key. However, if you have the time, it is well worth investing in a couple of other powerful skincare products to round out your routine. For example, the best routine includes a face that's clean! Try the CBE Botanicals 'Just Say Ahh' Revitalizing cleanser to clean your face before doing the exfoliating treatment to prepare it for microcurrent.
Along with all the good that microcurrent treatments can do for you, they do tend to dry out the face. Use a moisturizer after the treatment to offset this treatment and leave your face feeling hydrated, tighter, and refreshed at the end of your self-care routine. The NeoGenesis Moisturizing Mist is the ideal product to freshen your face while on the go, since you don't have to carry around a big product.
I hope this option for a great fast facial enables you to augment your skincare routine for better day-to-day self-care. Trying to keep our skin healthy and glowing is a lifelong process. It protects us, shields us, and defines us in a lot of ways! But every layer of the skin acts as our armor in a different way. On the very top, we all have a "skin barrier" that requires its own care for long-term health.
