A Non-Surgical Approach to Saggy Jowls

A Non-Surgical Approach to Saggy Jowls

When you look in the mirror and you see excess skin & folds forming from the cheeks to the jawline, you are seeing saggy jowls. When collagen and elastin becomes depleted, sagging skin is the result.

And that's not all. Things like repeated facial expressions, weight loss, sun exposure, smoking, and even the over use of computers or phones creating “tech neck” accentuate sagging in the jowl area.

A jowl lift can cost anywhere from $4,000 to $15,000. While they are effective with long lasting results, these procedures also come with risks like damage to nerves or muscles, internal bleeding, complications from anesthesia, swelling or improper healing, or sepsis.

If this kind of expenditure or risk isn't for you, you may want to consider the non-surgical approach to tightening up saggy jowls listed below.

The goal for non-surgical jowl improvement is to increase collagen in the skin using technology and high performance products. We also want to lift and tone the underlying muscles.

Of course, we can start by applying topical high performance products to support skin health. Products with collagen boosting ingredients like poly-l-lactic acid in SculPLLA products and the S²RM® proteins from adult skin stem cell molecules in NeoGenesis are ideal.

My favorite high performance products for jowls are:

When using technology, using the modality along the vectors in the face can produce optimal results. I like to begin using Ultrasound. The cascading effect at a cellular level of the sound waves signals skin to produce more collagen. I follow with the gentle current similar to the bodies electrical current using microcurrent. If you take your time and use the lift and hold technique, you can create a nice lift that makes the jowls less noticeable. I have seen some pretty amazing results, using ultrasound in combination with microcurrent. And, I always finish up with LED to add healing energy to the skin.

My favorite modalities for sagging jowls is a combination of:

  • Microcurrent (lift and tone, improve texture)
  • Ultrasound (cellular stimulation of collagen production)
  • LED (healing energy and collagen/elastin support)

Have fun with this! Take a BEFORE picture. Experiment with your favorite modalities and then take an AFTER picture to see the subtle improvements. With consistent treatments, you will see an improvement in the appearance of saggy jowls.
