Should I Change Up My Skincare Routine?

Should I Change Up My Skincare Routine?

You've finally found skincare products you love. While some products will give your skin an immediate boost, you know consistent use of your products is the #1 way to see the biggest improvements. But what should you do if you've been using them for several months? Does the skin adapt creating a need to switch things up once in a while? Is it necessary to make changes based on certain conditions? I'll answer that and more in this article.

I know some dermatologists prescribe strong retinol's and they insist you stick it out until the product starts working, but I'm not a fan of that protocol. If you're suffering from redness, inflammation, and dryness, it might be time for a change. Find a retinol that is gentle

If your skin feels good, looks good, and your products are maintaining healthy skin - as the saying goes - if it's not broke, don't fix it. Keep doing what you're doing. No change is needed.

However, as the season's change, if you find your skin reacting with more dryness or more oiliness, then it's definitely time to make an adjustment.

Wintertime often calls for more hydration. A couple of ways to boost skin's hydration is to include products containing higher percentages of hyaluronic acid or more ceremide's to lock in moisture. And don't forget to up-level your hydration by drinking more water.

Summertime might call for lighter formulations to allow for a more active summer lifestyle. Sweating allows impurities to rise to the surface of the skin. Adding a light exfoliation to your weekly routine might be a good idea to keep your pores clear. And, of course, it's a good idea to use a sunscreen that nourishes the skin without clogging pores while you wear it.

Maybe you're bored and want to treat your skin to some extra pampering. Adding a nourishing mask treatment is one of my favorite ways to boost a skincare routine.

It may take staying on a consistent routine at least 4 - 6 weeks to see the results of your efforts. So don't give up and remember to take those progress pictures so you don't miss the subtle changes on your skincare journey.

While facial reflexology may be an emerging trend in the beauty industry, people have practiced this skincare technique for thousands of years to improve their appearance, sleep, and health. It's based on the belief that we can diagnose and alleviate health conditions—or at the very least, enhance a lackluster complexion and reduce unwanted aches or pains.

So, it's an incredible idea, right? Yes! (When you do it right!)
