There's nothing new about wanting to look younger. Everyone wants to feel their best. But if you're not getting the results you want from your current skincare routine, know that you don't need an expensive surgical procedure. There are more nonsurgical facial treatment options than ever that can give you the results you want.
Here are some of the best nonsurgical facial treatments in 2023.
Microneedling is a simple process that stimulates skin repair by creating hundreds of micro-wounds in the skin. An esthetician usually performs this treatment with a microneedling pen with needles measuring 0.15-1.0 mm. Creating these tiny wounds jumpstart the skin healing process, which promotes collagen and elastin production. The results include improved complexion, skin health, and better skin absorption of serums and creams.
Nanoneedling (also known as microchanneling) is a minimally invasive treatment that promotes collagen and elastin growth to produce tighter, more youthful-looking skin. An esthetician—or you!—uses a nanochanneling device with tiny needles to create micro-wounds in the skin on the face, neck, or chest.
While similar to microneedling, nanoneedling uses silicone microchips to create smaller micro-wounds. This means it's safer on sensitive skin and reduces the risks of skin tearing. And that's one reason why you can do it at home, even if you're not an experienced esthetician!
Try it for yourself with the Skin Wand Pro, a handheld device that helps serum penetrate deeper into the skin. This is a popular treatment tool for acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation, as well as surgery scars and stretch marks on other parts of the body.
One of my most popular offerings is chemical peels. They're a relatively routine, non-invasive skincare option that can produce quick results. Chemical peels work by exfoliating the outer layer of the skin to prompt the layer underneath to regenerate, revealing a smoother and more even skin tone with fewer wrinkles.
Immediately after the peel, though, there will be a recovery period of 3-5 days. Your skin will feel tight right after the peel, but then your skin will start to, well, peel. Moisturizer and hydration are key here! After 7-14 days, you'll see that new, healthy skin formation.
The intensity of the chemical peel—and the number of treatments—will vary based on your skin and the results you want, so talk to your aesthetician to create a customized treatment plan.
We've all heard of Botox—but that's just a brand name for one kind of injectable. There are, in fact, quite a few different brands and kinds of injectable fillers on the market, and they can do everything from freeze wrinkles to define jawlines. Unlike other nonsurgical treatments, injectables can take a few weeks to kick in. And depending on the treatment, they could require some downtime due to bruising and swelling. The good news is that injectables and fillers have relatively long-term results, so you may only need one or two treatments a year.
But if you're looking for something a little less costly, an alternative yields filler-like results: the House of PLLA. This product has the highest grade of poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA) on the market. Plus, it contains an ingredient used in dissoluble stitches and soft tissue implants, so it helps boost collagen production for results similar to injectable filler.
Laser treatment is a popular add-on to many facials. And choosing a laser skin resurfacing treatment can be a great option if you're looking to improve acne-scarred or sun-damaged skin, in addition to reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, sagging skin, crow's feet and even warts.
There are a few different types of lasers, but most work by stimulating collagen production beneath the top layer of your skin. After laser treatment, expect 3-10 days of healing. During this time, your skin might look redder than usual.
If you're budget-minded and enjoy experimenting with skincare, you can get potentially surgical results from at-home devices. Christine Byer Esthetics has a range of gadgets, including the MBK Microdermabrasion Wand, CBE Time Master Pro, Eye Rejuvenator Microcurrent Device, and more.
Whether you're restricted by budget, time, or nerves, surgical facial treatments aren't for everyone. So, instead, explore nonsurgical options that are quick, require little to no downtime, and don't cost a fortune. And in between medical spa visits, keep up your regular skincare routine with high-quality products and at-home treatments.

What makes K-beauty really special is in the formulation and ingredients. I've noticed that many Korean skincare products are cruelty-free, rarely have added fragrances, and often use natural ingredients that aren't well-known in the Western world. Keep reading to learn more about these special ingredients, as well as where to find them in my go-to skincare products.
